That one was a tough pill to swallow. For Maine it was too little too late. They dominated the 3rd period, but they had coasted up until that point. Merimack wanted it more. And regarding Merrimack....that was not your typical last place team. Hockey East is very competitive this year.

Swayman, Robbins earn high distinctions for UMaine

...Maine freshman goalie Jeremy Swayman was named one of 16 semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award, given to the top American-born hockey play in New England. Swayman has had a breakout year in Orono, and is considered to be one of the top young goaltenders in college hockey.

Meanwhile, junior Brendan Robbins earned his first career hat trick in Maine's 4-3 win over Merrimack in overtime Friday night, and it also earned him a Hockey East honor. Robbins was named the conference's Co-Player of the Week, the first time he has done so this season.
