Maine 68, Hartford 63

Postby bainsey » Thu Feb 12, 2009 3:32 pm

The UMaine men went on an 18-4 run in the last six-and-a-half minutes to knock off Hartford 68-63 and snap a five-game America East losing streak.

Here's the box score...

Maine's (9-16, 4-8 AE) next three games are on the road: Next Thursday at UNH (9-14, 4-7), 2/22 at Albany (13-11, 5-6), and 2/26 at Boston University (14-10, 9-3). Maine's only home game remaining is March 1, 1PM, vs. Vermont (19-7, 10-3).

Knocking off UNH would certainly help keeping out of that 8-9 conference play-in game. From there, with this team, anything goes.

If they do lose to UNH it might be better for them as that way they would have to play Hartford and MAYBE, JUST MAYBE they might get a tourney win.

If they beat UNH then they will have to play the top team then they would probably lose another first round game, but then again on a nuetral court they might lose to Hartford, tough to beat a team 3 times. The pressure would be on Maine to beat Hartford and it wold be embarrssing to lose like they did to the ninth seed Stonybrook last year, this year.
