Umaine Football Team Probably Not Going to Play Florida St

Postby thecmsb » Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:35 pm

The CMSB has found out that UMaine football will probably not be making a trip to Tallahassee to play Bobby Bowden and the boys, but might be heading to another place instead.

I was raked over the coals when I first suggested this scheduling issue ("rumor" ) with FSU.......good to see that I have been vindicated. :P

Now, now, MartyrJeff... Most people on this board have known for awihile that the FSU game was likely to get scuttled, once ESPN and the ACC got involved.

If memory serves, it was the "Cosgrove to UMass" rumor for which you had your knuckles rapped.

How'd that one work out for ya?

There's a difference between:

Cosgrove to UMass?

and

Cosgrove to UMass

Do I need to explain that to you?

And yes, certain people (person?) raked me over the coals for even suggesting that there might be a schedule change in relation to FSU.

I prefer to look at it as a scoop on your part, MJ.

Well, since I have to acknowledge that much of what mj and others put out here (myself "occassionally" included of course), does need to be "scooped", I'll have to agree ! ;)

But, freedom of speech, and the MBR dialogue, is still a wonderful thing, regardless of it's validity !

P.S. - Being eventually correct mj, could still be a "blind squirrel" kind of thing ?, but as long as your other senses are working, this proves you may still find a nut every so often !? Mea Culpa ...

P.P.S. - Being that Syracuse is only a 3-4 hour ride, and Turning Stone is on the way !, guess I know where I'll be that first weekend in September (maybe) !? See ya all there (at the casino I mean !) ?

3-4 hr ride? from where maybe springfield Mass? I made the trip w/ family when the oldest was being recruited and from the greater Bangor area I remember a strong 8hr ride! It was well worth it as we got a tour of the Carrier dome and this was 2001 when Syracuse was a top 20 team and McNabb had just graduated a couple of years previous. The Dome is the largest enclosed collegiate facilty 49,000 plus and the school has some great old architecture as well. The link below discusses history of the Dome from the Cuse site.

Or Queensbury (Glens Falls), NY, located about 15 miles north of Saratoga ! :D Love those UMaine @ Albany games ! And even games at Vermont, UMass, Hartford and Binghamton are only a "short" ride. Heck, even Stony Brook and even UMBC are closer than Orono ! :o Now if only we could get a basketball game at Sienna it sure would be "nice" (except for the UMaine players?). And how about maybe a hockey game at RPI or Union ? So yeah, changing a football game in early September to Syracuse will be pretty sweet (unless it's "just" a rumor ?).

TAL, I have a good buddy in the Albany area whose both a Syracuse and RPI alum. Maine played at RPI Hockey in '95, and it was a doozy: 3-1 RPI after one, 5-5 after two, Maine wins 8-5. He's taken me to the Dome a couple of times, and I won't miss a Maine/SU match-up. (Fafan thinks I'll take the Dome back with me to Maine... If only I could figure out a way!)

Are you going to the A.E. men's hoop tourney at UA next month?
