Maine field hockey rolls past Bryant, 12-1

ORONO - It was the Libby Reidl show Tuesday as the University of Maine field hockey team trounced Bryant, 12-1. Reidl led the Black Bears with nine points scoring three goals and adding three assists.

Davis’s Two Scores Pace No. 24 Maine past Richmond, 3-1
The Black Bears and Spiders meet again on Sunday at Crenshaw Field

Richmond, Va. – With two second-half goals from freshman back Hana Davis, the No. 24 Maine Black Bears downed the Richmond Spiders 3-1 on Friday afternoon at Crenshaw Field. After trailing 1-0 early, Maine rattled off three unanswered goals to take control of the contest.

The Black Bears outshot the Spiders 24-7 on the day, including 15-4 on the net. Following Richmond's goal, Maine rarely allowed Richmond a scoring opportunity, keeping possession in their offensive end for the majority of the second half. Maine held an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners, while Richmond recorded 12 saves to the Black Bears' three.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spiders took an early 1-0 advantage less than two minutes into the first half when Richmond's Kasey Gilbridge found the back of the net on a pass from Katrina Balatgek.
Maine answered near the 10 and a half-minute mark, when junior Casey Crowley assisted Brianna Ricker on her second goal of the season.
Less than three-minutes into the second half, Hana Davis received a pass just outside the shooting circle, made a move past the Spider defender and dribbled to the center of the circle and fired a low backhand to the right corner of the goal.
After Richmond pulled its goalie later in the second half, Davis controlled the ball in the Maine offensive zone, spun towards the goal and beat the defender before shooting the ball into the net.
