Maine Football Recruiting 2018

Maine Football's early recruiting is back in full swing for the 2018 class.

Last year, Maine offered about 25 players early in the recruiting cycle (in the spring, summer, and early fall). Most of those players had multiple offers from higher level schools, so I had referred to it as a "spray and pray" approach.

I went back and found that list of players and of those early offers, Maine landed 3 of them, OL Archie Callahan (who I think is going to be REALLY good), LB Maurice McCray (who I also think is going to be REALLY good), and CB Shaquille St. Lot (hard to tell because he was a WR in a Canadian HS league...).

At any rate, it would seem like Maine is taking a somewhat similar approach this year, as all of the players that Maine has offered have at least one other scholarship offer, as far as I can tell. I will say that the other offers for this year's crop of players is a little less lofty than last year's.

I would say if we get 3 highly recruited players every year we would be doing pretty well. Any Maine kids have potential for D1 playing time?
Hard to believe 3 months from today kickoff at UNH 8/31, can't wait. Wouldn't it be great to start the season off w/ a W against our arch rivals and more than that a team who has owned us ;)

Maine NEEDS to always have a decent, and preferably better, kicking game.
Gotta have a solid punter (45+ with altitude, almost every time) and a dependable field goal kicker (35-yds and in are expected, and 95% done, plus 50% from 40-45) EVERY Year in this league.

Can we really not find and recruit that every 2-3 years ???

Sorry to see the rivalry diminish because of playing first game. Having watched the UNH Blue White game this year, seems UNH does not have that running back they have had last 10 years. It all depends on our QB and who it will be. Bears have a solid backfield and receivers.
