BCBC55,
Good points but after listening the game last night, I'd believe number 1. At least the first part of number 1.

*PLayers who have little confidence in their bigmen won't give the ball the post. Also, a bigman that's starving for the ball and hasn't touched the ball all season, won't kick it out to guards for open shots. He/She is going to the basket once they finally touch the ball, and you better believe, the ball is going up, whether they're double or triple teamed, it's going up! You can't fault the bigman for that. It's way too late in the season to think that and inside outside game is going to work. Too many loses coupled with too many egos means not enough basketballs on the floor to shoot.

*What about the fact that there might be some selfish players on this team? I'm not pointing any fingers at specific players but after watching a few games of Umaine basketball, this is a guard oriented offense. Yet Umaine had 10 assists TOTAL against 6-20 Hartford. 10 assists!! In a guard oriented offense!! And 6 were by one player. So 4 assists in 40 minutes by every other Umaine player on the floor. Other than Bernal, 7 other guys got in the game for a total of 180 minutes spread out amoungst them. 4 assists. WOW.

*Let's take a look at the minutes to assists ratio last game of Umaine,

200 total minutes played by 8 Umaine players, 10 total assists. PLease, this isn't a guard oriented offense, it's an and 1 streetball, whoever gets it shoots it offense. Can't believe you guys aren't ahead of UNH in the standings. After looking at he stats, I see why.

I agree with your post completely. Live by the three, die by the three, when you are shooting over 33% of your field goal attempts from the 3 point line (1 foot further this year also which means you should 35% instead of 40% from the 3 point line you will be doing well). Statistics bear out that when th ball goes inside/out or dribble penetration and kick out teams shoot 40% or better and when 3's are taken without drible penetraion or entry kick outs the 3 pomit shooting percentage drops to 25% and lower.

McNally is the post man AND HE IS PROBABLY THE ALL-AROUND BEST PLAYER MAINE HAS, so I would say what I posted is the real reasons why the ball doesn't go inside/outside and the fact that they didn't go to Andre anymore then they have to McNally this year.

Maine's offense is basketball insanity.

One definition of insanity "is doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting to get different results" This has been going on for the past 5 seasons bythe current UMaine's Men bASKETBALL'S head "superviser of substitutions". They just don't get, haven't for 5 years and will not probably for the next 4 either if a new contract as rumored.
