fromthbench: Not for long as if this program doesn't go 8-8 or better in conference play and possibly win a tourney game there maybe a coaching change.

That being a possibility would make it tough for any Mainer to sign this year 2017-18 for next year 2018-19 until they know who the new coach would be if that happened.

Doubt if they sign if offered.

Well, it's a good start and one that I believe will lead to future success on the court for UMaine.

UMaine men's basketball players become coaches at youth camp

ORONO - As a kid, University of Maine men's basketball forward Andrew Fleming was aiming at playing the sport at a high level. In order to prepare to do so, he would participate in several summer basketball camps throughout the state, at times getting coached by current or former UMaine players.

Now, in 2017, aspiring ballers turn to him to learn, and he has a chance to pay that forward.

"That means a lot," Fleming said Monday afternoon. "It's great to have such a following, it gives me a lot of pressure a little bit, but I like it. It's fun. It's pretty cool."

Source: Texas Tech, Georgetown on UMaine men's hoops non-conference slate

...A high-ranking source told ABC 7 and Fox 22 the Black Bears will be traveling to Texas Tech and Georgetown, two of the big road trips on the season for UMaine. The Hoyas finished 5-13 in Big East play this past season, a down year for their standards. The Red Raiders also finished near the bottom of the Big 12 at 6-12.

Additionally, the source indicated Maine will have other high-profile road matchups before league play. The Black Bears are set for matchups with Boston College, UMass, Phil Martelli's Saint Joseph's squad and Fordham.
