JUST MY EVALUATION AND OPINIONS

The only area they didn't strengthen enough was at the post and especially now that Eze is out of the year with the hip operations.

This team should go at minimum .500 8-8 in conference play and could eve win a tourney game.

5. Biggest weakness are 1. too many guards 2. Not enough depth at center 3. if players like in the past 3 years are allowed to determine who shoots, when they shoot and where they shoot from 4. Probably will play 10 players plus 5.Who is giong to be the basket defender?

Playing 10 plus players which is OK in non-conference games IF IT IS TO DECIDE WHO THE 8 WILL BE FOR CONFERENCE PLAY...... by conference time have got to decide who gets the most minutes...the 3 best players have got to get 35 minutes per game, next 2 starters 25 minutes and 3 subs 15 minutes each.

Returning starters who should start 6'6" Er, 6'2" Calixe, 6'7' Fleming, 6'9" Antom's incoming frosh is legit,, LaSalle Transfer 6'5" Dustan M. and the JUCO's 6'5' White, 5'10" Arajon, 6'5" Douglas, 6'6" Lowndes and 6'2" Bryant are going to have to prove themselves. Add returnees 6'7" Ilija S., 6'5" Evans, walk on 6'2" Ashley and you have a dozen players who re going to expect playing time.

5 Positives and strengths, 1. good overall size (except in post), 2. more overall athletic then past 3 years, 3. experienced players (only 1 incoming freshmen and he played a year of Prep after HS), plus the JUCO's, 3 starters 3 returning starters, (2 returning from major in juries Calixe only played in 7 games and Er in 11) and 4. from Walsh's comments on JUCO's coming in some good shooters, 5. looks like they overall have enough experience to have ability to make good decisions and to take good shots IF they are coached and forced to do so.

Biggest and toughest decision after the non-conference schedule is to go with 8 players and 3 get 35 mintues, 2 get 25 minutes and 3 get 15 minutes for conference play and who will they be.

If they go with 10 plus like they have the past 3 seasons and no one gets more than 30 minutes then their could be problems like in the past.

3 Best players have got to be n the floor 35 minutes each.

Very few successful D-1 top teams usually use on more than 7-8 players and their best 2 or 3 players are on the floor 35 plus minutes. Just check their individual and team statistics, which usually indicates the more minutes, the more successful production.

You don't have 6 players transfer out unless their is an issue with the Coach and his Coaching staff.
Despite new transfer rules the kids that are transferring are not really saying what the issue is.

I would say Bob Walsh's days at UMAINE are numbered. I was also suprised his contract was not terminated after this past season. UMAINE may not be an easy sell to potential recruits but I believe the handwriting was on the wall as far as Walsh was concerned several years ago.

It is best to make a move now and bring in someone else but if not I don't think he lasts the end of the year.

Several? I mean, the guy has been at Maine for 3 seasons. I guess you didn't like him when he was at RIC?

No you are correct although the header shows June 13, 2017 but the article is from 2013.

I'll say this give Walsh a month at the beginning of the season. But I believe it will be the same old thing...

I see no future for that Coach at UMAINE. But Creech is doing the right thing by letting him stick it out. I just

hope when his time does come that Creech has a top candidate in mind to take over....

UMAINE basketball should not be a tough sell. They have the PITT, the Cross Center in Bangor and in Portland.

No excuse for not having a top basketball program at UMAINE. But the other issues pertain to league affiliation.

At some point they may need to consider moving into another league in 1A that has more than one team going to

the NCAA tournament.

LOL....Maine is not going anywhere. No other league wants them....or most of the other schools in America East.
