Drove through briefly a few years ago....that was enough for me. They don't have to worry...I will never be back.

Maine has better priorities than fielding football teams.....thankfully.

Comparing the overall football culture, at all levels, of Alabama or Mississippi or even Oklahoma for that matter , or hell.. insert any Southern state here, to Maine is like comparing Prime Rib to undercooked SPAM. You simply can't use 1 of those states to justify an argument for Maine to be FBS. It's a whole different world and a whole different mind set.
If North Dakota St hasn't moved up to FBS, why on earth should Maine even consider it?

At least North Dakota State had some forward thinkers. They built the Fargodome
for their FCS football team which can seat 18,000 comfortably.

That is the issue isn't it. People in Maine would probably go to a football game in Portland
if we had a small domed stadium. That would mean more ticket sales and more revenue for
the UMAINE athletic department at least to an extent more than they have now.

No, I give North Dakota State credit. They have cold weather and they knew they would need
an indoor stadium.

It is the home field of the North Dakota State Bison football team, which competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Prior to the 1993 season, the Bison played at Dacotah Field. The stadium also plays host to many large concerts, sporting events, and trade shows.

The Coach Bear Bryant Show and his Golden Flake/Coke

I think football could take off in the State of Maine if they had the money to invest in an expanded Fitzpatrick
or Domed Stadium.

But there are too many naysayers on this board.

Maybe you're right Maine will be no better than an FCS division football program but I seriously doubt that they
can stay that way forever, especially with all their former rivals moving up.

Don't let this board stop the dome in Portland from being built. Keep on pushing George Mitchell and the legislature and when you need some help or want to pump your chest you were right come back here on tell us about it. ;) In the meantime we'll be here supporting the best football around at the FCS level. Hoping some seniors do well at the Proday in the "inflatable dome".
GO BLUE!!!
