OT: Albany gets screwed, sent to Connecticut

If there's any saving grace from Friday's loss, at least we aren't the first victim in Geno's Doldrum of Destruction.

its the womens field...if you dont have a great year and at least earn a 14 seed...you get shipped to closest region...Albany being close to UConn gets a 16 seed...there was not a chance Albany or Maine was going anywhere else in my opinon....will wait to check full bracket but check out the regions so far and see who is the 15 or 16 in that region, and changes are its pretty close the region

dunbar: Didn't UMaine women get crushed in last year's NIT first round by Quinnipiac?

So where is the saving grace? National TV audience against the number one women's team in the country could not hurt your program regardless of the final score.

It couldn't be much worse then that NIT shellacking last March.

How did they get screwed? The AEast was really down this year and their only win over a top 100 team was at home vs UNH while they also have 6 really bad losses. They didn't even get to beat them in the conference tourney. Their RPI is 113. I have no idea what the other NCAA teams have for RPI's, but with it that low, they are fodder for a top team anyway.

In no way was Albany "screwed".

7 teams that Maine played this season (9 games) made the field:

1 South Carolina
2 Missisppi State
4 Miami
9 Purdue
13 Chattanooga
15 Hampton
16 Albany

Maine went 3-6 (edit) in these games with wins over Purdue, Chattanooga & Albany.

I rather keep the integrity of the bracket. If you're going to move teams up and down a seed line because of travel, you might as well not even seed all teams in the region. Just seed the top four and then seed the four teams in the pod.

The top overall seed should face the worst team in the field. That's not Albany, even with a weaker resume compared to years past.

UConn is going to win it, everyone else is playing for 2nd place. There is no drama, no intrigue, no wonder going into this event.
