I saw the band at the AE Tourney this past weekend, but why in the world were there no cheerleaders? Somebody dropped the ball there, as it took them years to get this Tourney into Maine, and to not have the cheerleaders there was a huge oversight. Nice job by the band though.

The Maine pep band has been one of the shining beacons of the UM athletic dept. over the years. It is spring break right now so I'm sure all of the cheerleaders on the beach in Florida. ;) UM provides very little support or $$$ to the cheer squad so they are basically on their own. Was weird seeing Hartford and Albany cheerleaders though....hmmm.

Some members of the dance team are coming in the cheerleaders place both for tomorrow and potentially the NCAA Tournament. We're allowed 12 spirit squad members in addition to the select band of 29.

"12 spirit squad members" ???

Isn't that pretty much the definition of cheerleaders ?
Dance team is "nice", but ... ???

That's the term the conference and NCAA uses. They don't care whether it's cheerleaders or dancers. The dance team is an associated unit of the athletic bands so I'm happy they have the opportunity to come.

I honestly find the dance team much more entertaining.

The band is great, a great part of the atmosphere. But, wasn't the band better when it was all Mainers and they held their number of songs to just seven? I'm sorry everyone...I just had to do it. I think it was the devil that made me.

Crunch: Good line, very appropriate. I enjoyed the attention. Thanks a lot.
