MBB: UMaine 2017-2018 Predictions

Postby KVAC_GURU » Thu Mar 02, 2017 1:35 pm

After a 7-24 finish, UMaine looks to bounce back next season. They'll have several players back from injury, and hopefully Wes Myers. For this thread, let's ASSUME we have Myers for next season.

Calixte, Er, Myers, Majstrovic, Stolilkovic, Benrstein, MacKennon, Eze, Flemming, Ashley, Evans, etc.

My Prediction: 12-19

Better hope that Walsh bans music in the locker room.

I predict this "fan" board has more continued activity scrutinizing every shortcoming of the men's basketball team by posters who have otherwise, never posted on this board nor seem to have any rooting interest in the team.

If only there was as much fanfare of the women's program during their decent run that started two years ago.

Similar posts made by Tom on Dec 5th. Women's post has 5,000 more views. The interest is there. It's just that the women's program is not a dumpster fire right now.

ms: That means 4 years of....3-27, 8-22, 7-25 and your 4-27 prediction is 22-101 for a winning % of 17.4%....And that deserves an extension??????????

No predictions for me until some questions are answered roster wise.

Do Beal and Reid-Knight return? Does Myers returns? No transfers this spring? Plus, does everyone else return? Have they offered Pirovic's schollie to anyone?

If all return that could possibly return, the only scholarship available is Pirovic's 1 scholarship for next year.

Plus, if the soph red shirt transfer Dusan M. from LaSalle is that good then why did he transfer to Maine 319th ranked ncaa.com RPI rankings from 132nd ncaa.comRPI ranked LaSalle in the first place?

Could it be after his freshmen year he wasn't going to play that much at LaSalle and that they wanted his scholarship?

Wasn't Dusan M. a teammate of Calixe and I.S, and Lee Academy Prep school in Maine?

That equals 16 players plus PIROVOC's SCHOLARSHIP....... 12 scholarships used, Pirovic's free ride and 4 wall ons.

The ESPN3 announcers said last night that Maine had 4 scholarship players and 4 walk ons.

Who were the walk ons?

I can only come up with Bernstein, Ashley and Melmad. Who is the other one? Howard? Evans? Eze? Fleming? or Ilija S.?

Get these questions answered and then I'll make a prediction for 2017-18.

CJ Ward is the 4th walk on. I believe Melmed was given a scholarship prior to the season. Bernstein will probably get one for his last two years. Ward, Ashley, Melmed and Bernstein were all initially walk ons.
I believe Beal and TRK will be moving on along with Marko.

White fills one scholarship and Bernstein a 2nd, leaving one open scholarship or spot for a transfer. Maybe they would add a preferred walk on or 2? The jury is still out with Myers future TBD.

Seniors:
Myers (could leave as graduate transfer if he completes degree)
Howard
Melmed (Scholarship)

Juniors:
Calixte (RS Junior)
Bernstein (Probable scholarship)
Stoj
McKennon

Sophomore:
Fleming
Eze
Dusan M. (RS SO)
Evans
Ashley (walk on)
Isaiah White (JC transfer incoming recruit)

Freshman: ??

That line-up makes me as excited as mud. I'm leaning toward Mario Spaghettio's prediction which is quite a sad statement about next season. :|

No McKennon on the bench for the Vermont game, so stay tuned....
We are looking at another sub 10 win season, barring major player improvement and development.
