UMaine athletic director Karlton Creech signs extension

ORONO - Less than three years after taking over as athletic director, Karlton Creech has signed on to stay at University of Maine.

The university announced in a statement Friday that Creech has signed a four-year contract, effective Feb. 10.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to continue leading Maine Athletics," Creech said in the statement. "My time at Maine has been the best of my career. Thank you to President Hunter and University of Maine for entrusting me with this responsibility. I look forward to working with our great team of student-athletes, coaches and staff in the coming years as we pursue excellence."

Competitive football & women's teams, great community service, impressive acdemics, a new baseball HC hire, athletic department solvency and camradary.......but we could always return to the days or Blake James. Is that what you would like?

There are a couple of issues that he will have to deal with if he were here 4 more years (which I don't think he will be)....

1. The Gendron hockey situation is not going away.

2. The men's basketball program needs to get better.....with or without Walsh.
