Saco native Brandon Briggs making an impact on UMaine kicking game

...The former Thornton Academy of Saco kicker has supplied the Black Bears with a weapon they didn’t have a year ago when they went a league-worst 1-for-7 on field goals. They were 12-for-21 in 2015 (57.1 percent).

That forced UMaine to try to pick up first downs in third-and-long and fourth-and-long situations rather than attempt a field goal.

Briggs kicked two 37-yarders last Saturday, including the game-winner with 14:02 left in the fourth quarter, to give UMaine a 12-10 road win over Albany.

New Hampshire should be Week 12. The Musket should not be relegated to a gimmick Thursday night game. Only four home games is just poor long-term planning by the athletic department. At least the Portland game is a one-time deal. We'll know after Saturday is done how much of a disaster of an idea that was.

Couple of things. 2018 Football schedule sucks. 4 home games? Seriously? How the ***k does that even happen? No James Madison just kills strength of schedule as well.
Second. How can they get a football schedule a year out finalized and published before they even finalize and publish a baseball schedule that starts in 3 1/2 months?

I am looking forward to the game at Fenway Park next week. Should be a lot of fun win or lose. Here's hoping for at least " some" warm weather.

Sorry Dunbar but the disappointing crowd for the end of the year musket game which also meant loser goes home vs 20K plus at Durham to start this year gives me optimism that we can pack the Alfond and finally beat these guys to start the year off with a win which something we havn't done in awhile. :(
Still have a good memory of beating the crap out of UNH in 99 for inauguaral game at the Alfond on a beautiful summer nite.

At least they spread the home games out...but how did they end up playing 4 of their last 6 CAA games on the road?

No students for two of the four home games. The schedule is garbage. You knew you had a return game at Yale yet you still schedule two FBS games. Pathetic.

I think the AD will schedule 2 FBS games every year for the payday, that is there only priority in scheduling. Really hinders the team and their playoff opportunities. :( :( :(
