Pro Day could continue to put UMaine football on map

ORONO - Thursday morning, several of the University of Maine's seniors will have a chance to prove they belong in the NFL, as they get their Pro Day in front of league scouts. As the players aim to show they are Maine-tough, head coach Joe Harasymiak said the opportunity to work out in front of the scouts can help further the program's prowess.

"We're way up in Maine, where nobody probably thinks a lot about football from outside the state of Maine and maybe the CAA," Harasymiak said. "So for these scouts coming from all over the country, we've just been so well represented in the NFL that these guys have another opportunity to be the next piece of that.

UMaine Pro Day Moves Black Bears Closer to Their NFL Dreams

It seems as though at least one UMaine football player gets a chance to play in the NFL each year.

This year will likely be no exception. The seniors were put through some strength and agility tests today at UMaine Pro Day.

UMaine Pro Day: Ricard looks to follow in Bates' footsteps

ORONO - One former Maine Black Bear who made a career in opponents' backfields, looks to be the next University of Maine product to make a career in the pros.

Former defensive lineman, Pat Ricard, took another step towards that goal at the Black Bears' NFL Pro-Day on Thursday.

"I'm just a guy that has a high motor," he says. "My first play I want to make like my last play of the game."

Ricard, an All-American, has the best shot, if any, to hear his named called on draft night.
