National Prep Showcase Schedule Announced

The very best post-graduate programs from the United States and beyond will once again converge on New Haven, Connecticut for the National Prep Showcase next month.

The event will tip off on Friday, November 17th and run through the day on Sunday, November 19th.

All five NEPSAC AAA programs - Brewster Academy, Bridgton Academy, New Hampton School, Northfield Mount Hermon School, and St. Thomas More School - will be in action along with four AA programs in Vermont Academy, South Kent School, Tilton School, and MacDuffie School. Independant or Power Five programs Woodstock Academy, Putnam Science Academy, and Notre Dame Prep will also be a part of the field.

The list of non-New England programs in attendance is as deep and talented as it has ever been with Hargrave Military Academy, IMG Academy, Massanutten Military Academy, Mt. Zion Prep, Fork Union Military Academy, Spire Institute, Scotland Campus Sports, Blair Academy, and Sunrise Academy all returning to the field and Montverde...

The ’17-’18 season is officially underway now that the best prep programs in the nation made their opening statements at Albertus Magnus last weekend. I always like to let things sink in for few days before looking back on the action and taking inventory. It helps me to avoid being a prisoner of the moment and allows me not to make snap judgements based on the recency theory. That said, here are some of the things I took away from the 3-day event:

Yags’ Point Forward - Final NPS Player Notes

...BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE

Jalen Pickett, 6’3” PG/Wing, SPIRE ’18 – Pickett spent the summer playing for the Albany City Rocks in the EYBL and finished as one of the most efficient offensive players across all sneaker circuits. Expecting Pickett to repeat his sterling 137.2 Offensive Rating during the prep season would be unreasonable. Or would it? Pickett put on an absolute show against a strong Tilton squad on Sunday morning. He scored at all three levels, facilitated for his teammates and ripped down big rebounds in SPIRE’s 102-91 win....

ZG Prep Classic Tips Friday

he annual Zero Gravity Prep Classic tips off on Friday with over 40 teams playing nearly 50 games throughout the 3 day event at St. Andrew's in Barrington, Rhode Island.

A wide-range of New England's top programs and prospects will be in attendance while visiting teams from outside the region will include the likes of IMG Academy, Spire Institute, Our Savior Luthern, Knox School, and a host of Canadian programs including Athlete's Institute, London Basketball Academy, Ridley College, Rise Prep, and Southwest Basketball Academy.

NERR will provide coverage throughout the weekend on both our social media platforms as well as with daily recaps.

Zero Gravity Prep Classic - Day 1 Recap

The Zero Gravity Prep Classic tipped off Friday night with local fans, evaluators, and college coaches all in attendance to see the first 10 of 40 games scheduled to be played at St. Andrew's School throughout the weekend.

Here's a rundown of the action:

Spire Academy 97, IMG HS II 63 - Spire Academy played a fast-paced offensive game, pushing the tempo in transition to pull ahead early on. Spire was led by ZG Player of the Game Fabian Rial and also received a great effort from Jalen Pickett (16 points). IMG High School received 10 points apiece from Robert Potter Jaden Feaste.

Cushing Academy 69, The Masters School 59 - Cushing Academy had a balanced offensive attack, led by Providence commit David Duke who scored 21 points and added some thunderous dunks, being named ZG Player of the Game. Daman Tate, Kyle Murphy and Matt Cross all added 13 points apiece in the winning effort. The Masters School kept this game close with a solid efforts from standout guard Taelon Martin and...
