Prep Profile - Cheshire Academy

With Marial now officially gone (he transferred to IMG Academy in Florida), Cheshire can get a totally clean slate and approach the season with no distractions or question marks as to what their roster will look like.

The Returners

Junior big man Justin Allen is the lone holdover from last year’s team and now in his third season at Cheshire Academy. The 6-foot-8 big man returned to school in the best shape of his high school career to date, ready to show off his combination of size and skill, and potentially poised for a breakout year.

The Newcomers

There are a host of newcomers in the...

Prep Profile - Wilbraham & Monson Academy

...This year’s roster may not have such well-known names, but they have a group of driven players who are bound to make a name for themselves before the year comes to an end.

The Returners

While WMA is undoubtedly young this season, there still a nice nucleus of experience in the backcourt with senior Devonn Allen and the junior tandem of Idan Tretout and Dan Klosk.

Allen is now finally healthy, much improved on the offensive end, and one of the better perimeter defenders in the league. Klosk is an ideal complement as a heady and skilled guard who, according to Mannix, is one of the best shooters to ever wear the red and blue.

Tretout’s first season in the NEPSAC was an impressive...

Prep Profile - Kimball Union Academy

...Kimball Union Academy may not have some of the big names of their AA brethren, and may be a little shorter on their bench then they’ve been in years past, but head coach Mike Olson has a first 8 than can compete with anyone and is already off to a 3-0 start on the season with wins over Bradford Christian, Holderness, and Deerfield.

With a pair of games coming up on the bigger stage of the Scholar Roundball Classic this weekend, KUA is looking to make a statement and announce their arrival as a team bound for the post-season this year.

The Returners

It all begins with Eze Dike. A native of Montreal and early Yale pledge, Dike is in his second season with KUA. His frame is shredded beyond that of maybe any other guard in the region and his athleticism almost equally impressive. He’s a highlight waiting to happen in the...

NEPSAC AA Preview

...Making the post-season is a major accomplishment in Class AA as the league is ripe with teams featuring scholarship level prospects atop their roster.

Want proof? Consider this, the league has produced many of New England’s top prospects in recent years – guys like Nerlens Noel, Wayne Selden, Nik Stauskas, Georges Niang, Phil Pressey, Kaleb Tarczewski, and numerous others.

This year alone AA is home to 6 of the top 8 ranked prospects in New England in Simisola Shittu, Cole Swider, A.J. Reeves, David Duke, Marcus Zegarowski, and Anthony Nelson.

As we’ve said all fall long, things are wide open. The defending champs, Cushing Academy, have one of the league’s best players but an otherwise young roster. The...
