Tyrese Maxey headlines All-Committed team from spring action

At Rivals.com, we look at the Grassroots basketball system and break it down into three different legs. There is the first leg of the spring and summer where prospects spend most of April and May playing with their summer teams. The second leg is June which has traditionally been a month for individual and team camps. Things finish with the third and probably most important leg, the July live period.

Now that we are into the second leg of the Grassroots season, Rivals.com analysts Eric Bossi, Corey Evans and Dan McDonald have decided to take a look back at the first leg and hand out some awards. To kick things off, we take a look at which of the committed players from the class of 2019 - headlined by our MVC (most valuable commit) Tyrese Maxey - played best and make up our All-Committed team for the spring.

Atlanta-area guard could see high-major offers soon

Jamir Chaplin was a new addition to the 2019 Rivals150 at the most recent update as he slid in at No. 140 overall. The 6-foot-4 wing helped lead Meadowcreek High School (Ga.) to a state championship in Georgia’s highest classification over a really talented Norcross team, and he’s continued to play at a high level this travel season with Stackhouse Elite.

A tough, athletic wing whose skill level is always improving, Chaplin’s recruitment is starting to pick up a bit, but he still doesn’t claim any high-major offers. Georgia Tech most recently became involved with him and they join Ole Miss, South Florida and UAB as the schools Chaplin says he hears from the most

Five-star Jeremiah Robinson-Earl planning visits after summer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jeremiah Robinson-Earl has become accustomed to the spotlight. The five-star junior recently made the roster for the United States under-18 roster, he remains determined on playing out his college recruitment.

Cementing his standing as one of the nation’s best, Robinson-Earl discussed what it has been like competing against the elite in Colorado Springs this past week.

“It has been insane,” he said. “Going against some of the best players in the country, some of them older, some in college, it has just been crazy going against some of the best of the best, along with learning from some of the best coaches out here.”

Hot-shooting Lucas looking at summer decision

Jarod Lucas established himself as one of the better shooters in the 2019 class so far this travel season playing with the Compton Magic. He’s also a very capable point guard at 6-foot-3, which makes him a very intriguing overall prospect out of California.

Right now, he says Oregon State, Tulsa and Santa Clara have been the schools putting in the most work in his recruitment. Nevada and Santa Clara have also been putting in calls to him recently.
