Corey Evans‏ @coreyevans_10
Texas A&M & Oklahoma State are the first to offer one of the top 2020 prospects http://buff.ly/2u4cv1P

...A standout from this past weekend’s Nike Top 100, Cunningham showed that he can shoot, finish, rebound and defend. The younger brother of former SMU standout Cannen Cunningham, Cade spoke about his early recruitment.

“I have Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Tulane offers,” he said. “Oklahoma State was my first offer. Mike Boynton was the assistant coach when they offered.

“I didn’t know what to say when they offered. I was at a loss for words. It is just crazy. I didn’t think that I was going to be here.”

Kyree Walker, National Freshman of the Year, commits to ASU

Arizona State got a huge early get Friday when Phoenix Hillcrest Prep sophomore guard Kyree Walker gave the Sun Devils a commitment to play basketball, according to Nick Weaver, Hillcrest's recruiting coordinator.

Walker (6-6, 205) was named by MaxPreps as the National Freshman of the Year last season when he averaged 21.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists for Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic.

His father Khari Walker is joining Hillcrest's coaching staff and has taken his son to play basketball there starting next season. Walker had about 20 major-college offers, including one from Arizona.

A strong sense of family draws ASU commit Kyree Walker

...“A few things led to this decision,” said Kyree’s dad, Khari Walker. “They made him feel like he was part of the family. That’s what my son liked about Coach Hurley and the other coaches. The opportunity to play for Coach Hurley and the competitor Coach Hurley is, it is unbelievable. Getting that competitiveness instilled in Kyree will get him to the next level.

“I had no idea that he would make a decision this early. It was up to him because he was the one that had to go and play for a school and study there. He told me that he was ready to get it (his decision) over with and Arizona State is where he wanted to go. So here we are.”

Walker played last year at Hayward (Calif.) Moreau Catholic, where he averaged 21.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists a game for the 25-10 Eagles, the state’s Division II runner-up. His performance that season earned him MaxPreps’ National Freshman of the Year honors.

Last month, Walker decided to transfer to Phoenix Hillcrest Prep, one of the top basketball programs on the West Coast, where Khari Walker was hired as an assistant coach. The proximity of the guard’s new school to the Tempe campus wasn’t a significant factor in his recruitment according to his father.

AAU NATIONALS STANDOUTS PERFORMERS

Matt Cross of BABC looked like a pick and pop player against Team Penny and shows some signs of a future 3. At 6'5 maybe 6'6, Cross hit the step in 3 from the wing and was a catalyst in bringing his team within 6 points of Team Penny. He plays to his strengths, mixes it up inside on the glass, has a good motor and was a leader for his team. He can handle the ball some right now but looks to be more power forward right now but could project as a 3 with added ball skills and being able to create it off the dribble.

Matthew Murrell
6'2 Combo Guard
2020
Team Penny/Whitehaven HS

The best player at the nationals, Murrell was fantastic during the tournament showing signs of what's to come for the next 2 years on the circuit. He can make shots from all over the floor but it's not just that he can make shots, he does what a lot of players his age don't, hit the pull up 15 footer. In a time where players love the 3, Murrell on more than a few occasions, got defenders with the shot fake and stepped in for easier jumpers. He's improved as a shooter from 3 but what stands out is get to rim ability. Pure scorer, He makes a strong case as the #1 player in 2020 in Memphis.
