Ole Miss ADDS LUIS RODRIDGUEZ TO INCOMING CLASS
Four-Star Wing Spent Last Season at Woodstock Academy in Connecticut

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head men's basketball coach Kermit Davis announced that Luis Rodriguez has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Rebels for the upcoming season. Rodriguez, a Los Angeles native, spent the past season at Woodstock Academy in Connecticut.

“Luis is a very tough, physical, competitive athlete that played on an outstanding prep team at Woodstock,” said Davis. “His versatility offensively and defensively fits extremely well with our style of play on both ends. He’s a person with high character, and we’re really excited for Luis to join Ole Miss Basketball.”

Rodriguez is a four-star small forward and the No. 1 player out of the state of Connecticut (No. 143 nationally) according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-6 wing is listed at No. 189 in 247Sports Composite rankings, which is a combination of rankings and ratings from multiple major recruiting sites. Rivals.com listed Rodriguez as a three-star guard.

Last year, Rodriguez averaged 14 points per game, seven rebounds per game and three assists per game at Woodstock Academy. Earning first team all-conference honors, Rodriguez led Woodstock to a 35-5 record and a Power 5 Conference title. Finishing the year as the No. 3 prep school in the country after a month ranked in the top spot, Woodstock also captured the Brewster Invitational behind Rodriguez’s play on the hardwood.

Prior to making his way across the United States to Connecticut, Rodriguez played at Westchester High School in Los Angeles. In his final season of high school, he led Westchester to a spot in the state championship game.

Romeo and Phinisee in Hoosiers gym, but what's up with Dean Tate?

... The simple question I asked Dean Tate’s mom after the game: Where is Dean going to college?

“We don’t know,” she said, and Coy Tate was frustrated or exasperated or maybe just shocked at what she was about to say next. “He doesn’t have any (scholarship) offers!”

This was an all-star game, remember. Romeo Langford didn’t play, and neither did future IU teammate Damezi Anderson of South Bend Riley or Purdue signee Eric Hunter from Tindley, but there were 11 Division I signees on the floor, not to mention kids going to Wabash (Niah Williamson of New Castle), DePauw (Cole Jenkins of Carmel) and Marian (Luke Gohmann of Floyd Central).

And Dean Tate was the best player on the court.

Woodstock’s Rodriguez SEC Bound

Woodstock Academy post-graduate Luis Rodriguez signed a National Letter of Intent with Ole Miss on Friday after officially visiting their campus earlier in the week.

Rodriguez was arguably the final high profile prospect left on the board in New England's class of 2018.

The California native averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game this year while helping to make Woodstock one of the top prep schools programs in the country in just their first season in the post-graduate ranks.

Rodriguez announced the news via his twitter account.

Romeo Langford plays final game in front of adoring hometown fans

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Charlie Bennett is a New Albany lifer. He was a freshman in 1955, met his wife in 1958, graduated in 1959 and was married in 1961.

He’s seen plenty of prolific players don a Bulldogs uniform. Harold Johnson, a member of the 1955 Final Four team. Jim Henry, a 1955 graduate and member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Sonny Wright, a member of the 1959 Final Four team.

“I guess I could keep throwing names at you…” he says.

But none have compared to what he’s seen in Romeo Langford.
