UNE CONCLUDES ITS SEASON AT NCAA REGIONAL


GORHAM, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country team finished in 34th place at the NCAA III New England Regional Championship, contested at Gorham Country Club on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 11).

MIT (81) took a 10-point win over Amherst College (91) to garner the title. Middlebury College (124) ran to a third-place finish. Individually, Sam Brunette of Plymouth State University edged Scott Mason of Connecticut College by 1.5 seconds to win the race. He posted an eight-kilometer time of 25:22.

Matthew Toussaint was the first UNE runner to cross the finish line, recording a time of 28:06 to place 148th. Other competitors to figure into the Nor'easters' team total were: Ben Wright (181st/28:57), Donovan Duffy (219th/29:38), Caleb Pulliam (226th/29:47) and Alec Walker (250th/30:19).

Jon Zalman and Brennan Mitchell also competed for the Nor'easters.

NOR'EASTERS FINISH IN TOP-THIRD AT NCAA REGIONAL

RHAM, Maine -- The University of New England women's cross country team placed 17th out of 56 teams at the 2017 NCAA III New England Regional Championship Saturday afternoon (Nov. 11) at Gorham Country Club.

MIT took home the championship, recording a team score of 58 to easily distance itself from the rest of the field. Tufts University (92) was second, while Williams College (106) grabbed the third spot. UNE posted an aggregate total of 559.

Emma Robidoux logged a sub-6-minute pace, posting a six-kilometer time of 22:19 to lead UNE and place 38th overall. Amanda MacDonald also cracked the Top 100, finishing 85th with a time of 23:08.

UNE's other scoring runners included Cat Moss (124th/23:41), Jija Young (154th/23:58) and Kiera Murray (168th/24:09). Rachael Suhie and Katie Correnty also competed for the Nor'easters.

Kaitlyn Mooney ran a blistering 5:27 pace to breeze to the individual title with a time of 20:22.
