NO. 4 BOWDOIN MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS NO. 32 COLBY, 7-2

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The fourth-ranked Bowdoin College men's tennis team won three close doubles matches on the way to a 7-2 win over 32nd-ranked Colby College in NESCAC play Thursday.

The Polar Bears, the defending NCAA champion, improved to 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the league. Colby drops to 10-6 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC.

Luke Tercek and Grant Urken won 9-7 at first doubles over Vlad Murad and Scott Altmeyer. Kyle Wolfe and Jerry Jiang also had a 9-7 win at second doubles.

Murad, who is ranked ninth in the Northeast Region, took a 6-4, 6-2 win over fifth-ranked Luke Tercek. Altmeyer also had a big win, defeating 19th-ranked Kyle Wolfe at second singles. Altmeyer won 6-1 in the first set, lost 6-0 in the second, and then took a 10-7 pro-set win.

COLBY: SPEER, HILLIER EARN DOUBLES WIN OVER REGION RANKED TEAM

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Colby College's Shaw Speer and Cam Hillier combined for an impressive second doubles win in the 32nd-ranked Mules' 7-2 loss to ninth-ranked Williams College on Sunday.

Speer and Hillier took a 9-7 win over Jordan Sadowsky and Rohan Shastri. The Williams pair came into the match ranked 12th in the Northeast Region in doubles.

Vlad Murad won at first singles for the Mules with a 7-6, 6-0 victory over Shastri.

Colby (10-7 overall, 2-5 NESCAC) will close out the season next Sunday at noon against University of Southern Maine.
