COLBY MEN'S SQUASH EASILY BEATS TUFTS

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The 22nd-ranked Colby College men's squash team received a 3-0 win from Will McBrian at the first position in an 8-1 victory over 28th-ranked Tufts University on Sunday at the Dunaway Courts.

Patrick McCarthy, Colby's senior captain, also won 3-0 at the second spot. McCarthy and McBrian both reached 10 wins for the season.

Elliot Gross went five sets and came back from a 2-1 deficit at the third position for the Mules. Hugh Doherty won in four sets for the Mules at the fourth spot.

Will Pepi (fifth), Matt Epstein (seventh), Sam Hitt (eight), and Charlie Beauregard (nine) won matches by 3-0 scores. Pepi now has 10 wins on the season.

COLBY WOMEN'S SQUASH DEFEATS 18TH-RANKED TUFTS

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The 25th-ranked Colby College women's squash team capped a terrific weekend of play by beating a higher-ranked team for the second day in a row after a 7-2 win over 18th-ranked Tufts University on Sunday.

The Mules took a 9-0 win against 22nd-ranked Wellesley College on Saturday.

Madiha Molani won in four sets, including a 15-13 fourth set, at the second position for the Mules. Julianna Song also won in four sets at the third spot.

The Mules also received wins from Olivia Silverman (four), Caroline Pelham (six), Ren Robinson (seven), Lily Wain (8), and Elise O'Brien (nine). Wain improved to 15-5 this season and Song reached 10 victories with a 2-0 weekend.

COLBY MEN'S SQUASH EARNS FIFTH SEED IN NESCAC TOURNEY

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College men's squash team will be the fifth seed for the third straight year in the New England Small Athletic Conference Championships.

The Mules will avoid playing in an opening round match Friday. Colby starts play with a quarterfinal match with fourth-seeded Middlebury College on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Amherst College.

Middlebury played host to the Mules in early January and took an 8-1 victory. The winner of Saturday's match will likely play top-seeded and second-ranked Trinity College in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Saturday. The losing team will play a consolation round match Saturday at 5 p.m.

COLBY: WOMEN'S SQUASH TO TAKE ON WESLEYAN IN NESCAC FIRST ROUND

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The Colby College women's squash team is the ninth seed and will play eighth-seeded Wesleyan University in an opening round match at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championships this Friday to Sunday at Amherst College.

The two teams will battle at 4:30 p.m. in one of three first round matches.

The Mules (8-12 overall) and Wesleyan have had a terrific rivalry over the past few years. The Cardinals took a 5-4 home win over Colby on Jan. 14, but the Mules won 5-4 in a neutral site match a week later at Mount Holyoke College.

The winner of Friday's match will take on top seed and third-ranked Trinity College in a quarterfinal match Saturday at 8 a.m. The loser will begin play in the consolation round Saturday at 9 a.m. at Smith College.
