WAIN, O'BRIEN WIN MATCHES FOR COLBY IN LOSS TO BOBCATS

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Lily Wain and Elise O'Brien both won matches for the 25th-ranked Colby College women's squash team in a 7-2 loss to 16th-ranked Bates College at the Dunaway Courts on Wednesday night.

Wain improved to 13-5 this season with a 3-2 win at the eighth position. She fell behind two sets to one, but allowed just eight points in the final two sets to pull out the victory.

O'Brien, now 6-3 this season, had a straight set win at the ninth position.

The Mules gave the Bobcats a competitive match. Colby lost two matches in five sets and another in four.

Colby will play host to Wellesley College on Saturday at 11 a.m.

COLBY: DOHERTY WINS MATCH FOR MEN'S SQUASH

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Hugh Doherty battled back from a 2-1 set deficit to earn a 3-2 victory at the fourth position for the 23rd-ranked Colby College men's squash team in an 8-1 loss to 18th-ranked Bates College on Wednesday.

Doherty split the first two sets and then fell 13-11 in the third set. However, he bounced back for 12-10 and 11-9 wins.

The Mules lost one match in five sets and three in four sets.

BRODO LIFTS COLBY MEN'S SQUASH TO BIG WIN OVER MIT

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Colby College first-year Jason Brodo picked up the biggest victory of his young collegiate career with a 3-2 come-from-behind win at the sixth position to lift the 22nd-ranked Mules to a 5-4 win over 20th-ranked MIT on Saturday at the Dunaway Courts.

Brodo fell 11-7 in both the first and second sets to Neel Das. However, he battled hard for two straight 12-10 wins to tie the match at two sets. Brodo won 11-9 in the fifth set.

Sam Hitt, another Colby first-year, also had a 3-2 win while playing the eighth position.

The Mules also received victories from Will McBrian at the first position, captain Patrick McCarthy at two, and Hugh Doherty at the fourth spot.

Colby will play host to 28th-ranked Tufts University on Sunday at 2 p.m.

COLBY WOMEN'S SQUASH BEATS NO. 22 WELLESLEY

WATERVILLE, Maine -- The 25th-ranked Colby College women's squash team picked up a big win after easily beating 22nd-ranked Wellesley College by a 9-0 score on Saturday at the Dunaway Courts.

The Mules fell 5-4 to Wellesley in the first weekend of the season in November. However, the Mules were playing without three key players who were in action Saturday.

Devin Mullaney, at the first position for Colby, was one of seven players to win by 3-0 scores. Madiha Molani allowed just nine total points in winning at the second spot, while Julianna Sonog was a 3-0 winner at three.

Olivia Silverman, Cricket di Galoma, Caroline Pelham, Ren Robinson, Lily Wain, and Elise O'Brien also had victories for Colby. Pelham and di Galoma both won 3-1 matches. Wain improved to 14-5 on the season, while Mullaney won her 10th match.

The Mules also lost 5-4 to Tufts University at the start of the season and will host the 18th-ranked Jumbos on Sunday at 2 p.m.
