Husson Men edge UMaine Fort Kent 82-80

After Husson University lost to the UMaine D-1 Men's basketball team 108-79 on Saturday, October 29th, tonight at Newman Gym on Husson's campus they edged by UMaine Fort Kent 82-80 a team that pulled the biggest upset so far in Maine college basketball this year by beating D-1 UMaine 80-75 at the Bears home den the "PIT" at Memorial Gym just 4 days ago.

So in a round robin 3 team setup of FK, Husson and UMaine each team finished 1-1.

Husson trailed at the half 50-41 as 6'7" Maine's Joel McCloskey from Howland lead the Bengals to the 9 point lead with 28 points on 12 for 14 from the floor including 2 for 2 from beyond the arc and 2-4 from the line.

However, Husson made some defensive adjustments in the second half which held McCloskey to just 10 points as the Eagles defense limited him to just 8 field goal attempts.

Husson took the lead late in the second half and held on to an 82-80 win. The Eagles defense also held Roosevelt Smith who had 29 points Saturday in the win over Maine to just 12 points. They also held the Bengals to just 30 second half points after giving up 50 points in the first half.

Husson scored 41 points in each half. Raheem Anderson paced Husson with 31 scoring 14 in the first half and 17 in the second half on 10 for 23 from the floor, 6 for 6 from the line and 5 of 9 for 3 pointers.

UMaine transfer Mitch Worcester of Washburn had 10 first half points and 14 in the second half for 24 points on 8 for 14 from the floor including 5 for 9 3 pointers and 3 for 3 from the charity stripe.

McCloskey was 15 for 22 from the floor 2 for 2 for 3' and 6 for 8 from the line for his big 38 points. Bobby Syvanthong had 14 points and Roosevelt Smith had 12.

Husson was 29 for 81 from the floor for 35.8%.
Fort Kent was 34 for 71 from the floor for 47.9&

Husson was 10 for 34 from beyond the arc for 29.4%.
Fort Kent was 5 for 17 from beyond the arc for 29.4%

Husson went 14 for 20 from the line for 70% and Fort Kent shot 70% from the line on 7 for 10.

Fort Kent committed 17 personal fouls to the Eagles 10.

Husson committed just 8 turnovers to the Bengals 13.

Husson had 15 to assists to Fort Kent's 17.

Game was close all the way and very well played for this early in the season.

Fort Kent scored 80 points in both their games against Maine and Husson, giving up 82 to Husson and 75 to UMaine.

Husson scored 79 and 82 points and gave up 108 and 82 points in their 2 games.

Maine scored 108 and 75 points and gave up 79 and 80 in their 2 games.
