Worcester Family has Two NCAA Tournament Games to get to Friday Night

Both basketball teams at Husson University are headed to the NCAA playoffs this weekend. Great news for the school and the players, but, a bit of a dilemma for some parents.

Each of the Husson teams has a Worcester on it. Kenzie is a guard on the women’s team and Mitch is a guard on the men’s team.

Husson hoops teams looking to make history at NCAA Tournament

BANGOR - While March is known as college basketball's time to shine, that isn't simply reserved for the highest ranks or "The Big Dance." Making the NCAA Tournament in Division Three is just as exciting for schools like Husson, who is sending both the men's and women's team to the national stage...

Humble senior guard enjoys memorable career for Husson women

... Guerrette, a guard, was a 1,000-point scorer at Presque Isle and led the Wildcats to back-to-back Class B state championships in 2012 and 2013. In soccer, she owns the school record for assists and sparked PI to a Class B regional title in 2011.

Her career at Husson has been just as impressive.

Entering Friday’s NCAA Division III tournament game against DeSales University of Pennsylvania, Guerrette has tallied 1,298 career points for an average of 12.6 per game. She has also registered 440 rebounds (3.9 per game), 288 assists (2.8) and 248 steals (2.4).

CMCC Mustangs set for national title run

..."Even though we are No. 1, we are the underdogs in this tournament," CMCC's Brooke Reynolds, and Edward Little High School grad, said. "We're playing against juniors and seniors who have played together for three or four years, and we're only a two-year school. But we just have to have confidence and just keep on doing what we do every game. we can't let them get into our heads."

Reynolds has been a star for the Mustangs this season, averaging 14.6 points and 8 rebounds per game on her way to being names an All-American in the USCAA, the league in which CMCC plays.

"Having Brooke be an All-American, it wasn't necessarily a surprise, it was definitely something she earned," Morong said. "She put in a lot of hard work and showed a lot of dedication."

Colby: Kate Kerrigan Named First Team All-NESCAC in Women's Basketball

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin junior Kate Kerrigan (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) has been named First Team All-New England Small College Athletic Conference in women's basketball honors announced by the league on Wednesday.

A tri-captain on this year's squad, Kerrigan led a balanced Polar Bear team to a 21-4 overall record, a top-25 ranking in the national polls and the squad's 17th NCAA Tournament appearance this winter.

It is the first First-Team selection for Kerrigan, a two-time NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year and an All-NESCAC Second Team selection last year. Kerrigan played in all 25 games and contributed in every phase of the game for the Polar Bears. She averaged 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game. She is also a three-point threat, shooting 39.7 percent from long range.

Through three seasons, Kerrigan has scored 665 points, grabbed 469 rebounds, earned 182 steals and dished out 250 assists. Her assist and steal totals already rank among the top-ten all-time at Bowdoin.

The Polar Bears will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Friday for an NCAA Tournament First Round game against New Paltz State. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m.
