COLBY MEN'S NORDIC TEAM THIRD, WOMEN TAKE FOURTH

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- The Colby College Nordic skiers continued to stay at the top of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association races after Zane Fields finished third in the men's race at the Middlebury Carnival at Rikert Nordic Center on Friday.

Amy Bianco was sixth in the 15-kilometer mass start race and teammate Olivia Amber placed a close seventh for the Colby women. Silas Eastman just missed a top-10 finish by placing 11th in the men's event.

"It was another great day for us with Zane, Silas, Amy, and Olivia all being so consistent at the top of the field," Colby head coach Tracey Cote said. "It's hard to do that from week to week in a sport with so many variables."

Fields had a podium finish in a time of 46 minutes, 22.2 seconds over the 20K course. He was just two seconds out of second place and less than five seconds from the winner. Meanwhile, Eastman finished in 47:13.4 and Ian Liphart had a solid finish by taking 26th in 49:38.1

The Colby men were tied for third place with Midlebury at 92 points.

Bianco and Amber helped the women placed fourth overall with 81 points and first among the five NESCAC colleges. Bianco had a time of 40:38.3 and Amber was right with her at 40:38.4.
