FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington baseball (13-12, 6-8) junior right-hander tossed a complete game shutout for a 5-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader with conference rival Thomas College (15-13, 9-7) on Wednesday afternoon. The Beavers split the doubleheader by falling in the first game, 4-2.

Leahy only surrendered four hits in the outing, which all came in the first four innings before retiring the final 13 batters he faced.

The Beavers gave Leahy plenty of offense in the fourth inning by scoring all five runs in one inning. UMF started the inning off with five straight hits, including RBI singles from Tom Grady (Whitefield, Maine/Erskine Academy) and Grayson Beressi (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth). Jordan Croteau (So. Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) followed by crushing a two-run double off the right field wall. Nick Attaliades-Ryan (Otisfield, Maine/Oxford) drove in UMF’s final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly.

UMF had three hitters finish with a pair of hits and the two-through-seven hitters in the lineup combined to hit 10-for-17 in the second game.

The Beavers had to battle back from a 0-2 hole in the first game. Thomas jumped out to the early lead in the top of the second inning by taking advantage of two fielding errors.

In the bottom of the third, Farmington answered with a two-out, two-run single from Grady.

Thomas used extra-base hits to take the lead for good in the top of the fifth. Derek Kane crushed a solo home run to center field and Zach Mathieu lined an RBI single back up the middle for the final margin of victory.

Sean Cabaniss (Vassalboro, Maine/Erskine Academy) was a combined 3-for-6 at the plate with a run scored. Croteau matched Cabaniss with a 3-for-6 day while scoring a run and driving in a run. Grady also had a good day at the plate with a pair of hits and four RBI.

UMaine-Farmington travels to New England College this weekend for a four-game series.
