UMaine-Farmington (1-15-1, 1-8 NAC) will rely on a strong senior class to carry the Beavers in 2015. Head Coach Tommy DiNuzzo enters his third season and believes his group of Beaver booters has worked hard in the offseason. "We are excited for the new year and are looking forward to this season," DiNuzzo said about his team. Opponents will have to get by the large 6-5 frame of senior Uriah Forest-Bulley (Turner Falls, Mass./Turner Falls) who will look to anchor the Beavers defense. Henry Ametti (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) will defend alongside Forest-Bulley with players like Austin Dooley (Buckfield, Maine/Buckfield) and Zach Sathasivam (Valley Stream, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) leading the attack up front.

UMaine-Farmington will open the new season on the road at non-conference opponent UMaine-Presque Isle on September 9, 2015.

Beavers Come Up Short in Comeback Efforts vs. Pine Manor

FARMINGTON, Maine – Yusuf Yama (Goma, Congo/Portland) and Ibrahim Achekh (Aboudeia, Chad/Lewiston) teamed up to score a goal apiece in back-to-back games as University of Maine at Farmington's (1-1) attempt at a comeback fell short with a 5-2 loss against Pine Manor (2-1) on Saturday.

The Gators grabbed an early lead when Jose Corrales found the back of the net at 6:27. Hakeen Duncan sent a pass to the corner where Corrales fired a bending shot that deflected off the gloves of leaping UMF keeper Matt Wilson (Hampden, Conn./Hampden) for the early score.

Pine Manor doubled its lead near the midway point of the first half when BJ Wade scored the Gators' second goal. Jacob Curran lobbed a pass into a traffic with Wade there at the other end of the pass and scored his first goal of the season.

UMF answered back with Yama grabbing his third goal of the season late in the first half. Zach Sathsasivam (Valley Stream, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) passed to his left after beating a defender to Yama standing just beyond the edge of the box. After some fancy dribbling, Yama lined a laser into the left side of the goal to narrow PMC's lead to 2-1.

Less than a minute into the final period, Ryan Fairbanks chipped a pass from the corner to Achekh standing right in the front of the goal. Achekh used his chest to deflect the pass into the goal for the equalizer.

The Gators retook the lead twenty seconds later with Duncan sending a line drive shot into the top right corner of the goal. PMC scored two more unanswered goals for the final margin of victory.

The Beavers were able to win the corner kick and shots battle in the physical matchup and Wilson recorded three saves on the day. PMC goalie Oscar Estrada had a busy afternoon with nine saves and earned the win.

UMaine-Farmington will returns to action tomorrow afternoon at Leib Field with Emerson College.

Fairbanks' Header Gives the Beavers a 2-1 Win Over Emerson

FARMINGTON, Maine – Ryan Fairbanks (Lisbon Falls, Maine/Lisbon) knocked in the eventual game-winning goal with a header as the University of Maine at Farmington (2-1) held on for a 2-1 victory over Emerson College (2-2) on Sunday.

The Beavers took advantage of a corner kick when Tristan Price (Moultonborough, N.H./Moultonborough Academy) launched a strike into the air and Fairbanks jumped up and knocked the shot off the left post and took a friendly bounce into the back of the net.

At halftime, neither team put a tally on the scoreboard but UMF only needed thirty seconds into the final period to make it happen. Luke Sterling (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) put a finesse touch on a shot, which was knocked down by Emerson keeper Carter Bowers, but Uriah Forest-Bulley (Turner Falls, Mass./Turner Falls) was there for the rebound to power it home.

Emerson scored equalizer in the 71st minute with a breakaway goal by Duncan Bochicchino.

UMF kept their poise and answered back with Fairbanks' go-ahead score six minutes later.

Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hampden) and the UMF defense held the Lions to only four shots on goal in the physical matchup, with Wilson grabbing three saves.

UMaine-Farmington plays non-conference opponent University of New England on Tuesday at Leib Field.

Beavers Fight Back Against UNE But Run Out of Time in the End

FARMINGTON, Maine – Ibrahim Achekh (Aboudeia, Chad/Lewiston) scored a pair of goals as the University of Maine at Farmington (2-2) ran out of time in Tuesday's 5-4 non-conference loss to the University of New England (2-3). The Beavers were close to overcoming a three-goal deficit.

The Nor'easters jumped out to the early lead with three goals in the first 18 minutes. Tyler Garnick tallied the first goal with a penalty kick at 7:13. Garnick assisted UNE's second goal with a pass to Will Bushey, who fired a shot through the UMF defense. Dan Good increased the lead to 3-0 after Ryan Stephens sent a pass up the middle of the field with Good there to fire the shot into the bottom left corner of the net.

Luke Sterling (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) broke the shutout four minutes later to edge the Beavers closer. Henry Ametti (Skowhegan, Maine/Skowhegan) set UMF up with a pass to Uriah Forest-Bulley (Turner Falls, Mass./Turner Falls), who jumped up for a header. After Forst-Bulley's header pushed the ball deeper into UNE territory, Sterling leaped and knocked in his first career goal with a header of his own.

Garnick answered back with his second score of the contest before the end of the half, which pushed the UNE lead back to three goals.

Achekh needed only 23 seconds to get the Beavers back into the game. Ryan Fairbanks (Lisbon Falls, Maine/Lisbon) lined a pass through the UNE defense to Achekh, who cut the lead in half. After the Beavers were able to get the ball back on the ensuing kick off, Darine Gnidehoue (Abidjan, Cote d'ivoire/Mt. Ararat) sent a cross from the corner and Achekh was right on cue for the header.

With four and a half minutes remaining in the contest, Stephens added an insurance goal for UNE with a free kick.

Ametti drew the Beavers closer with a penalty kick into the right side of the goal, making the score 5-4, but UMF ran out of time down the stretch.

Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) stopped four shots in the contest for the Beavers. UNE's Nate Diffin picked up the victory after splitting time with Jake Rostkowski.

UMaine-Farmington starts conference play on Saturday with a trip to Johnson State.
