Terriers Shutout Rams 3-0 in Season Opener

WATERVILLE, ME- The Thomas College women's soccer team opened up their season with a 3-0 win over Unity Wednesday night in a non-conference game at Smith Field.

Rams goalie Ashia Prior was tested early and often throughout the first half, stopping all nine of the shots she faced. The game remained scoreless into halftime.

A trio of Terriers goals in four minutes was all the offense the Red and Black would need. With 22 minutes remaining in the final half, senior captain Bronte Howorth broke the tie with her first goal of the season. Just a minute later, first year Camille Filloramo netted her first goal as a Terrier to give Thomas a 2-0 lead. After another two minutes of play first year Cassie Contigiani scored her first colligate goal to put Thomas up 3-0.

In goal, Thomas junior Paige Leary completed her first shutout of the season with two saves in the win. Prior was given the loss in an impressive 17 save effort.

The Terriers poured on the pressure throughout the contest, holding a 17-2 shot advantage. Contigiani lead the game in shots on goal with nine.

The Terriers will return to action when they host the University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday, September 5, on Smith Field for a 2pm contest.
