DUGAN NAMED ASSISTANT COACH FOR COLBY FOOTBALL

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Matt Dugan, with coaching experience at Springfield College and Maine Maritime Academy, is a new assistant coach for the Colby College football program.

Dugan will coach the running backs for head coach Jonathan Michaeles.

"We are excited to have Matt on board. His enthusiasm and professionalism have already made a difference on our staff," Michaeles said. "He is a proven Division III coach who understands and values the demands of a student-athlete. His experience coaching and recruiting will be an asset to our program."

Dugan was the junior varsity head coach and a graduate assistant offensive line coach at Springfield from January 2013 to January 2015.

Dugan just earned his master's degree this month in physical education from Springfield. He also earned his bachelor's degree in sport management from Springfield in 2012.

Before starting his master's degree, Dugan spent one season as an assistant at Maine Maritime in the 2012 season. He was a positional coach for running backs and long snappers.

Dugan played four years of football at Springfield, starting on the offensive line his final two years. He earned the Male Athlete Unsung Hero Award and the Solem-Dunn-Osur Brotherhood Award during his time with the Pride.
