Weekly Report #1 – November 17, 2014

Player of the Week: Megan Pelletier, USM (Jr. – Winslow, Me.)
Pelletier was named the USM Tip Off Tournament Player of the Week after averaging 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 blocks per game in a 2-0 start for the Huskies. In limited action in a win over UMF, Pelletier recorded the third double-double of her USM career with 10 points and 12 rebounds, adding three blocks and three assists. Pelletier was pivotal in USM’s 69-47 win over Bridgewater State, netting a game-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Pelletier again filled the box score with four assists, three blocked shots and a steal.

Rookie of the Week: Haley Driscoll, Colby College (Fr. – Bedford, NH)

Colby first-year Haley Driscoll shot nearly 89 percent from the field and averaged 10.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in Colby’s 2-0 week. She had nine points and two rebounds while shooting 4-for-4 from the field in the first half to help Colby open a 40-24 lead on UMass-Boston.

News, Notes and Milestones:
~ Bates’s Bernadette Connors was named to the all-tournament team at the Rutland Herald Tipoff Tournament. She made five three’s in two games.

~ Colby's Carylanne Wolfington averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists (1.0 turnovers), and shot nearly 47 percent (7-for-15) from 3-point range in a 2-0 week for the Mules.

~ Saint Joseph’s defeated MIT and Curry College to win the Curry Tip-Off Tournament for the second-consecutive season. Senior Sarah Assante (Standish, Maine) and sophomore Emily Kehoe (Perkinsville, Vt.) garnered All-Tournament honors for the Monks

~ Maine Maritime’s Mary Badeen averaged 20 points per game in a 1-1 weekend for the Mariners. Badeen and Jillian Perron were named to the Pepsi Mariner Challenge All-Tournament team.

~ Kelly Coleman and Alanna Vose were named to All-Tournament Team at UNE's Ramada Roundball Invitational.

Weekly Report #2– November 24, 2014

C0-Players of the Week:
Sadie DiPierro, UNE (Jr. – South Portland, ME)
Morgan Cahill, St. Joe’s (Jr. – Yarmouth, ME)

DiPierro scored a career high 22 points in a 77-73 overtime win against Southern Maine to earn her first ever MWBCA Player of the Week award. The junior guard went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and 2-for-2 inside the arc, shooting 73% for the contest. Sadie also collected four rebounds and three steals in the win.

Cahill averaged 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The junior center netted a career-high 30 points with 12 rebounds in a double-overtime victory at Husson University on Thursday and added 12 points and eight caroms in a 60-46 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.

Rookie of the Week:
Lauren Petit, Bowdoin (Fr. – Medfield, MA)
The freshman guard averaged 11 points, 2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per contest in a 2-0 week for the Polar Bears. Petit shot over 50% (8-for-15) from the floor and was 6-for-12 from beyond the arc in the two wins.

News, Notes and Milestones:
~ Allie Coppola’s 20 rebounds against Husson was a career-high and the most by a Bobcat player in over 15 years.
~ MMA’s Mackenzie Vosburgh had career highs in points (15) and rebounds (7) in a loss to St. Joe’s
~ Freshman Haley Driscoll had a career high 11 rebounds in a win over MIT and leads the team in FG% and rebounding.
~ USM’s Rebecca Knight matched a career high in rebounds with 14 in a loss to UNE

Co-Players of the Week: Carylanne Wolfington, Colby (Jr. – Hallowell, ME)
Alanna Vose, UNE (Jr. – Cushing, ME)

Wolfington led Colby to a 2-0 week including a decisive win over Bates. The 5’7” guard averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, shot 53.8% (7-for-13) from three point range, 51.9% (14-for-27) from the floor, and made all four of her free throws.

Vose led UNE to a 1-0 week which included a four point victory over Bowdoin. She shot 53.8% (7-for-13) from the floor and was 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. Vose scored a season high 21 points to go along with three steals and two assists.

Rookie of the Week: Lyse Henshaw, Bates (Fr. – Brunswick, ME)

Henshaw shot 50% (6-for-12) from the floor and was 3-for-7 from beyond the arc in two games this week. She averaged 9.5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists for the week.

~ Bates senior Molly Brown had 27 points and 11 rebounds in a win over USM

~ Morgan Cahill (St. Joe’s) had 22 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime loss to USM

~ USM claimed the Costello Cup for the 21st time in 25 tries against St. Joe’s

~ Shannon Brady (Bowdoin) averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks this week.

Co-Players of the Week: Kelly Coleman, UNE (Sr. – Portland, Conn.)
Sara Binkhorst, Bowdoin (Sr. – West Hartford, Conn.)

Coleman shot 56% (15-of-27) from the floor while averaging 16 points and 8 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for UNE. The senior forward also collected 1.5 assists and 2 steals per contest.

Binkhorst was 12-of-26 from the floor and 4-of-10 from beyond the arc while collecting 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 2-0 week for the Polar Bears. The 5’7” senior averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists for the week.

Weekly Report #5– December 16, 2014


Player of the Week: Mary Badeen, Maine Maritime (Jr. – Newport, ME)

Badeen led the Mariners to a 2-1 week, averaging 24.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, while shooting .492 (29-of-59) from the field and earning two double-doubles. In a win over Maine-Machias, the junior netted 24 points, grabbed 10 boards, earned seven steals, and dished six assists. The guard then recorded 23 points, ten rebounds, two assists, and two steals against a tough Castleton team. Badeen then scored 27 points, while earning nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a victory over Green Mountain. Badeen currently leads the NAC in points per game with 19.9 over eight games.

Honor Roll: Megan Pelletier, USM

Rookie of the Week: Miranda Nicely, USM (Fr. – Farmington, ME)

Nicely turned in two strong performances off of the bench. Nicely established career highs in points and rebounding in a win over Salem State. Nicely gave USM quality minutes in a road win at KSC, connecting on 2-of-3 attempts for four points, while grabbing four rebounds. For the week, Nicely shot 66.7 from the field averaging 6.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game, committing just two turnovers in 29 minutes of action.

Player of the Week: Molly Brown, Bates (Sr. – South Dartmouth, Mass.)
Brown averaged 25.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2 steals in a 2-1 week for the Bobcats. The senior guard shot 25-for-60 from the floor, 13-for-26 from beyond the arc, and 14-for-17 from the free throw line. Her 31 points in their 76-72 win over nationally ranked UNE was a career high.

Rookie of the Week: Kate Kerrigan, Bowdoin (Fr. – Wellesley Hills, Mass.)

Player of the Week: Sara Binkhorst, Bowdoin (Sr. – West Hartford, Ct.)
Binkhorst led the Polar Bears to a 3-0 week and two important conference wins. She averaged 17.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3 assist per contest while shooting 50 percent (7-for-14) from the beyond the arc. She was 16-for-36 from the floor and a perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line.

Rookie of the Week: Haley Driscoll, Colby (Fr. – Bedford, N.H.)
Driscoll averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest over two games for Colby. The freshman forward shot 68.4 percent from the floor and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

~ Molly Brown (Bates) had another outstanding week, averaging 23.5 points and 8 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bobcats

~ Husson’s Chandler Guerrette had 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists in a win over USM. The win over USM snapped an 18 game skid and their first sine 1994

~ Morgan Cahill (St. Joe’s) scored 22 points in the Monks only game of the week

~ MMA’s Mary Badeen averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds in a 1-1 week.

Players of the Week: Shannon Brady, Bowdoin (Jr. – Scituate, MA)

Brady averaged 19.5 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in a 2-0 week for the Polar Bears. The junior forward had 21 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks in a decisive win over Amherst (6th ranked team in NCAA III). Brady shot 10-for-17 from the floor and then followed up that performance with an 18 point effort in a win over Trinity.

Honor Roll: Kelly Coleman, UNE Chandler Guerrette, Husson Carylanne Wolfington, Colby


Rookie of the Week: Nina Davenport, Bates (Fr. – Freeport, ME)
Davenport averaged 27 points and 7 rebounds despite the 0-2 record this week for the Bobcats. The 5’11” forward was 23-for-53 from the floor and 5-for-19 from beyond the arc. Davenport scored 29 in a loss to Wesleyan and then had 25 against Conn. College.

Honor Roll: Kelly Pomerleau, UMF Kate Kerrigan, Bowdoin

~ Bowdoin is ranked 24th in the country in the latest D3hoops poll and are now 19-2 on the season.

Player of the Week: Sarah Assante, St. Joe’s (Sr. – Standish, Maine)
Kelly Coleman, UNE (Sr. – Portland, Conn.)

Assante averaged 10.7 points, 9 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 6.3 assists in a 2-1 week for the Monks. The senior guard dished out a career high 11 assists versus Lasell and then had 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in a win at Rivier. Assante finished off the week posting a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in a loss at Norwich.

Coleman averaged 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 3 steals in a 2-0 week for UNE. Coleman shot 58 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.

~ Kelly Coleman moved into 6th on UNE’s all-time scoring list with 1,356 points
