MWBCA Names Pomerleau to All-Rookie Team

CASTINE, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) announced University of Maine at Farmington freshman guard Kelly Pomerleau (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic Academy) as a member of the 2014-2015 All-Rookie Team on Wednesday afternoon.

Pomerleau averaged 7.1 points, 2.0 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game this season. She nailed 21 shots from beyond the arc and shot .771 from the charity stripe as a freshman. Pomerleau dished 49 assists and started 24 games this season as a Beaver.

The 5-4 guard scored in double figures seven times this season including a career-high 18 points at Johnson State on December 5, 2014. Pomerleau shot 4-of-5 from the field and added 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

The newcomer's 77.1% from the line ranked fourth in the conference, she recorded the eighth-fewest turnovers, and her 74 free-throw attempts ranked ninth in the North Atlantic Conference.

In conference play, the court general ranked fourth on the team with 7.8 points per game and led the team by averaging 1.0 assists and 1.1. steals per game.

Pomerleau was named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week on January 5, 2015 and earned MWBCA Rookie of the Week honors four separate weeks in her rookie campaign.
