Charlie went to South Portland. Some of the best I've seen from Maine who have not been mentioned:

Mike MacDonald--RHP--Camden Rockport (UMO)
Mike Collar--RHP--Scarborough (UMO)
Derek McIntosh--C--Edward Little (SJC)
Adam Lemieux--CF/P--Greely (USM)
Brian Robinson--LHP--Cape (Vermont)
Spike Einsiedler--SS--Falmouth (Pomona-Pitzer)
Jesse LaCasse--C/1B--Madison (SJC)
Nick Caiazzo--C--Deering (UMO)
Tim Frend--1B?--Falmouth (Davidson)
Scott Shirrell--SS/OF--Cheverus (Dartmouth)
Kevin Sevigny--OF--Sanford (Baylor)

Those are just a few of many great players I've played with or seen over the years.

Ryan Reid arguably had just as good of a season as Mark Rogers in 2004. He has subsuquently moved up the ranks in the Majors further and quicker than Mr. Rogers as well. I would have to say he needs to be on the list before Mark Rogers until Mark gets healthy at 100%.

You cannot argue right now that Mike Bordick was the best.

And did Louis Sockalexis might be the best player ever FROM Maine because there is a team named after the Indian Island native!

Mike Bordick may have been the best, but both Billy Swift and Jim Beattie had distinguished careers in the Bigs. Beattie pitched and won a World Series game with the Yankees in 1978 and also went on to be a General Mgr. with Montreal and Baltimore.

I remember that state game and between Reid and Rogers and Reid was "THE MAN" on that day. Don't get me wrong Rogers was/is incredible, and I expected that of him, I was just very impressed with Reid.
You know the thing I really like about this topic is that it shows many, many former Maine high school baseball players that played either at a high collegiate level and even professional level.

Bobbyball: Billy Swift was 2nd in the NL Cy Young voting (the year escapes me) and played on the US Olympic Team. Jim Beattie gave up Yaz's 3000th hit (I was there) and thank you for the kind shout out! :D
