Baseball: Relief pitching lifts South Portland to victory over Windham
Connor Buckley proves effective in long relief as the Red Riots rally to a sixth straight victory.

...Buckley allowed six hits and three walks, striking out nine.

“I just come in and try to do my job,” Buckley said. “We grinded the whole game, and I was just trying to throw strikes and put the ball in play, and let my defense make plays behind me because I’m really confident in them.”

Zach Skillings of Windham allowed one earned run in a complete game in the first meeting with the Red Riots, but this time lasted just four innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits. ... a-innings/

Buckley's a gritty kid and SoPo is a gritty team. They'll be a tough out in the playoffs. The heal points are tight for that last first round bye and SMAA playoffs. Hope the weather holds this week.
