Luksza, Bessey Motors shut down Pastime, 5-0

...“Rogers came in and swept us on Tuesday and that kind of woke us up a bit,” Bessey Motors manager Shane Slicer said. “The spark is back and I can’t say enough about what Janek did … That’s a good baseball team we just beat and he shut them down pretty much single-handedly himself.”

Shut them down he did. Luksza gave up just two hits — back-to-back in seventh inning after sitting down the previous 19 batters consecutively, allowing just one walk and a hit batter. Luszka knew he had it going even prior to the first pitch.

“When I was warming up I felt good because I haven’t thrown much, I had a break, so my arm felt pretty good,” Luksza said. “Our defense is just outstanding to make every play. It tells me I can just go and throw strikes.”

Flagg's grand slam blasts Brewer Legion past Hampden 13-4

BREWER - The Brewer Falcons have a shot at a bye in the upcoming Legion baseball playoffs, but will need to pick up two wins in as many days to do that. They got on the right track Tuesday evening with some big bats.

Alex Flagg slugged a grand slam in the first inning of Brewer's game with Hampden, as the Falcons would go on to win 13-4. A Bangor win against Post 51 means the Comrades are the No. 1 seed in Zone 1, while Hampden is No. 2 with the loss.

Pastime roughs up River Valley in Zone 2 playoffs

...In the opening round of the American Legion baseball Zone 2 playoffs, Pastime shut out visiting River Valley 23-0 in six innings. The game was called after the sixth due to darkness at Pettengill Field.

“I think we hit the ball about the same when we played Auburn or Augusta a couple of times, but that’s definitely what we are capable of hitting,” Pastime manager Jake Brown said. “I think it was really a full team effort, the guys off the bench got some good hits.”

Brock Belanger led off the first inning for Pastime with a single, which was followed by a Gage Cote walk. After two stolen bases, both scored on a single by pitcher Hunter Landry, and just like that, Pastime was on the board and was not looking back. Pastime finished the inning with five runs, capped off by an Eddie Turgeon single that drove in Jack Leblond.
