Sheridan's extra-inning blast lifts Oceanside to key victory over Belfast
With regular season nearly over, Mariners, Lions continue to battle for Class B North playoff positions

THOMASTON — In a late-season game with significant playoff implications, host Oceanside used a middle-innings rally and the excitement of the long ball to cement a key victory over Belfast on Saturday afternoon, May 27.

As the Knox and Waldo county opponents sought wins to keep their postseason aspirations in solid standing, it was perhaps fitting that it took an extra inning to decide the matter.

Logan Sheridan's lightning bolt from the sky — namely, a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning — enabled the Mariners to walk off with a dramatic 7-5 win, one that gave their playoff hopes a shot in the arm.
