Cheverus bounces back, downs Scarborough

PORTLAND—Even though Cheverus' baseball team has played nearly the equivalent of an extra game in the early going this spring, thanks to three extra inning contests, junior Jensen Lapoint had yet to take the mound.

That changed Thursday afternoon at Kevin McDonald Memorial Field where Lapoint made sure his debut was memorable, not only because of his arm, but because of his bat as well.

Cheverus keeps focus for baseball victory
The Stags, who lost a three-run lead in their only loss, this time pull away to beat Scarborough.

Leading 3-0 after three innings Thursday, Cheverus got a reminder from Coach Mac McKew about the importance of staying focused.

Two days ago the Stags had a 3-0 lead against Westbrook and lost 4-3.

This time Cheverus gave up a run in the fifth, then totaled four runs in its last two at-bats to beat Scarborough 7-1 at MacDonald Field.
