Forecaster: Cape Elizabeth Capers Girls' Winter Athlete of the Year

OLIVIA TIGHE, Sophomore-Swimming

Tighe produced a season to remember even before she attempted a seemingly impossible feat at the Class B state meet. When she pulled it off, she entered into legend and best of all for the Capers, she isn’t close to being done dominating at the high school level.

Tighe started swimming in the second grade with Coastal Maine Aquatics and quickly fell in love with being in the pool.

“I love doing something I enjoy every day,” Tighe said. “I love the people I’ve met in the pool.”

Forecaster: Falmouth Yachtsmen Boys' Winter Athlete of the Year

CONNOR PERRON, Senior—Swimming

Perron capped his Falmouth career by winning a pair of state titles and he’s going on to even bigger and better things in the pool.

Perron, following in the footsteps of his brother, Jake Perron, Falmouth’s 2015 Winter Male Athlete of the Year, started swimming at a young age and while he also played other sports growing up, the pool has been his focus in high school (he has also been a longtime member of the Westbrook Seals club team).

Perron came in fifth in the 500 freestyle as a freshman, moved up to fourth in that event as a sophomore and as a junior captain, he placed second in the 500 free and was runner-up in the 200 free as well.

Forecaster: Maine Girls' Academy Lions Winter Athlete of the Year

ANA NEFF-JENDRASKO, Senior—Swimming

Neff-Jendrasko was an established star long before her senior season and after another round of dominance, she will graduate a Lions legend.

Neff-Jendrasko, a South Portland resident, started swimming at the age of eight and in her first year at McAuley (as the school was then known), she won the Class B 200 individual medley state championship. As a sophomore, Neff-Jendrasko won the IM and the 100 backstroke championship and as a junior, she placed second at states in the IM and third in the 100 butterfly, but this winter, she returned to the top of the podium.

Neff-Jendrasko won every race she took part in during the regular season, then, at the Class B state meet, she won her first title in the 100 breaststroke (with a time of 1 minute, 8.02 seconds) and placed second in the IM.
