Now onto class of 2019

2019 Rankings Begin in Maine

...Finally, we'll rank fewer players in the class of 2019 than we did the class of 2018 as they are now only halfway through their high school careers and still have so much left to prove.

Without further ado, Maine's 2019 class is led by a big man who is new to the state, and was flying low under the radar in Massachusetts...

2 Matthew Fleming 2019 6'5" Bangor HS
3 Ben Onek 2019 6'4" Deering HS
4 Cooper Wirkala 2019 6'6" Oceanside HS
5 Xahn Frater 2019 6'2" Berwick Academy

New Hampshire 2019 Rankings Announced

...So, as we roll out our updated 2019 rankings in the Granite State, we are aware of the fact that this list will undoubtedly look much different in a few months when we add the incoming prep products to the list. Until then though, we will continue to keep the list small, as we are doing with all 2019 rankings, to account for the fact that these players are just now approaching their most important years.

Proctor Academy's Darion Jordan-Thomas returns for his second year in the prep ranks and currently sits as the state's top ranked player and a definite division I prospect. The Massachusetts native still...

Goodine Sits Atop Rhode Island’s 2019 Class

As we continue to update our 2019 rankings it should come as no surprise that St. Andrew's guard Brycen Goodine is the top ranked player in the state of Rhode Island.

Earlier this week we reported Goodine's offer from Syracuse following last week's elite camp, while also noting how this could be the offer that opens the flood gates for an up and coming guard who still remains somewhat under the national radar for some unknown reasons.

top 5

1 Brycen Goodine 2019 6'3" St. Andrew’s School
2 Tyler Kolek 2019 6'1" Cumberland HS
3 Aaron Gray 2019 6'4" LaSalle Academy
4 Aireus Raspberry 2019 5'11" Cranston East HS
5 Robert Baum 2019 6'0" St. Andrew’s School

Farris Sits Atop Vermont’s 2019 Class

When we published our Vermont rankings in the class of 2018 last week, the major theme of the class was that we wanted to see more. We wanted to see more of the state's talent emerge, both locally and beyond, as it has become increasingly difficult to identify the same amount of college prospects within the state's borders.

That isn't to say they don't exist. In fact, we are willing to bet that they do, but they have simply yet to emerge.

1 Kam Farris 2019 6'1" Rice Memorial
2 Jamison Evans 2019 6'1" Rutland HS
3 Jack Scotnicki 2019 6'3" Vermont Academy
4 Alex Carlisle 2019 5'11" St. Johnsbury Academy
5 Deng Adiang 2019 6'0" Vermont Academy

Akok & Delaire Shine in CT 2019 Class

... As a reminder, post-summer 2019 rankings do not include incoming prep products (i.e. players that weren't in New England last year) and are based on assessing a prospect's potential for the next level, not his impact to date.

As we told you last week, Akok Akok's spot in the ESPN 60 all about guaranteed his place as the top ranked prospect in New England, and by extenion Connecticut, as he returns to Putnam Science Academy for his second season.

The competition for that top spot looks likely to be steep, both in Connecticut and beyond. If Akok was New England's biggest stock-riser in the spring with the Rivals, then Loomis Chaffee and CBC forward Jaiden Delaire was in the summer. The Connecticut native saw his recruitment explode with new offers from UConn, Kansas State, Rutgers, South Florida, Stanford, USC, and Providence. He's still just turning potential into production but his combination of size and skill on the perimeter is starting to make him a major mismatch problem.

Massoud Leads Mass 2019

If Connecticut's junior class is deep, Massachusetts' is deeper.

In fact, we ranked 20 players in the Bay State's 2019 class and even at that there were plenty of others who deserved consideration.

What is currently unanimous among the NERR staff is that MacDuffie School and PSA Cardinals product Ismael Massoud is the top ranked player in the state. With tremendous perimeter size, good length, and one of the most polished skill sets in New England, this guy has real potential to play multiple positions at the next level and is as much of a match-up problem as you'll find facing the basket.

New England 2019 Rankings Announced

or the last week we've been rolling out updated 2019 rankings one state at a time, and now it's time to consolidate them all together in New England's junior class.

Rankings are always debatable and the younger you guy the less certainty there is. There are, however, some clear trends that have arisen with this class.

Four in contention for the top spot - There are four prospects that currently have a legitimate argument for the number one ranking. That list includes Putnam Science Academy forward Akok Akok, Loomis Chaffee forward Jaiden Delaire, St. Andrew's guard Brycen Goodine, and MacDuffie wing Ismael Massoud. Catch any of those four on any given day and you could walk away saying they are the best prospect in New England. All four possess high ceilings as well as the ability to dominate a game right now. Akok is both an elite rim protector and a skilled floor spacer offensively. Delaire is an emerging skilled forward with mismatch tools. Goodine is an athletic playmaker with a vastly improved jumper. Massoud has tremendous perimeter size and length along with a polished skilled set.
