KVAC wrestling meet today at Cony High School
Wrestlers from 18 schools will vie for individual titles.

AUGUSTA — Cony High School hosts the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference wrestling championships Saturday, when wrestlers from 18 schools will vie for individual honors. Team champions in both Class A and B will also be named.

Skowhegan, Nokomis and Oxford Hills look to be the favorites to contend for team titles, based on seedings, Cony coach Shawn Totman said. The Rams should also be in the hunt.

“I see it as a very tight race,” Totman said. “It may be the team whose kids out-perform their seeds that comes out on top. I think if my kids do that, Cony could also be in the mix for the team title.”

Skowhegan has four No. 1 seeds in Jake Craig (106), Richard Oberg (120), Samson Sirois (138) and Jon Bell (170). Nokomis has only one top seed, James Boyd (220), but has six wrestlers seeded fourth or better.

Other contenders include:

...After a bundle of individual mat battles during the daylong league tournament at Cony High School, the Panthers returned home as Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B champions.

While that might have been enough for most teams, the Panthers celebrated so much more on the day.

Medomak Valley junior Eli Miller finished first in the 152-pound division, which includes all wrestlers in Class A and B.

Indians fall behind Oxford Hills, Nokomis
...AUGUSTA — With four wrestlers reaching the championship round of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference meet Saturday, things looked good for the Skowhegan Area High School wrestling team.
