17th annual Ken Sullivan Duals at York HS

...“We always tell the kids the significance of this tournament,” said Caldwell, who coached with Sullivan in the program’s infancy. “This tournament will never go away; as long as there is wrestling at York High School, this will never go away. I think it’s a very special day.”

Teams scheduled to compete include the host Wildcats, Cheverus, Gardiner, Lincoln Academy, Kennebunk, Wells, Portland and Windham.

There will be four teams in each bracket, the top two teams from each bracket advance and those two winners advance to the championship.

Wells has won the past three years.

“Wells has dominated lately,” Caldwell said. “They’re coming back with a strong team; they won state last year and didn’t graduate too many seniors.”

The Wildcats have 18 kids on the roster this season, including four wrestlers from Traip Academy.

Nice start of the season for Wells who won their 5th straight Sullivan duel. In the finals Wells beat Cheverus 84-0. Will be interesting to see how they match up with Marshwood this year.
