Bruce Boyington to make CES MMA debut in August

...While this marks Boyington's first fight with Classic Entertainment and Sports, it is the latest in a wide-ranging career across the Northeast and beyond.

Boyington, 14-10 in his career, shined in NEF for a time, and eventually he earned a four-fight contract with World Series of Fighting. In the past year, Boyington has fought in Russia and at Madison Square Garden. His last competition came once again in NEF, as he fought a boxing match that resulted in a no-decision after both fighters were cut by an incidental headbutt.

CES 45 is scheduled for August 11 at Twin River Casino. His opponent Andrews is 10-1 in his career.

Boyington eager to get back in action against Andrews

BANGOR - Bruce Boyington has become synonymous with mixed martial arts in the area, and now he's set to add another promotion to his long list of accolades. Needless to say, he's excited for it.

"Pretty Boy" will make his CES fighting debut this weekend, when he battles the 10-1 Nate Andrews in Rhode Island at CES 45. The nationally-televised bout will be a step up for Boyington, who is coming off illness and two-consecutive losses en route to the fight. He last fought in the cage at Madison Square Garden Dec. 31 of last year, losing to Keith Peterson.

Boyington faces tough televised challenge

...Given that backdrop, Boyington is looking forward to a return to competitive normalcy Friday night with a nationally televised fight against Nate Andrews as the co-main event of the CES 45 MMA card at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

The show will be aired on AXS-TV beginning at 9 p.m.

The Rhode Island-based CES — or Classic Entertainment & Sports — is one of several MMA organizations contracted to stage shows as part of AXS-TV’s “Friday Night Fights” series, making it an attractive option for fighters from throughout the Northeast.

Boyington stopped in second round of nationally televised MMA bout

Bangor-area fighter Bruce Boyington is not a grappler by nature.

So when he scored a second-round takedown during his nationally televised mixed martial arts bout at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island, on Friday night, it became a disadvantage.

Local favorite Nate “The Snake” Andrews, fighting from his back, soon cinched in a triangle choke on Boyington that forced a tapout at 2:14 of the second round of their scheduled three-round lightweight clash on the main card of CES 45.

The victory was the fifth straight since August 2014 for the 33-year-old Andrews, an East Providence, Rhode Island, product who now is 11-1 with all his victories coming by submission (six) or knockout (five).
