BikeMaine will bring 350 cyclists to Bethel in September 2015

PORTLAND, Maine-The Bicycle Coalition of Maine unveiled the 2015 BikeMaine route during a kick-off party held February 4 at Empire in Portland . The Third Annual BikeMaine ride will take place from Sept. 12 through 19, 2015, and is organized by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine. Each year, the week-long experience highlights a different part of Maine with riders camping in host communities along the way. The 2015 BikeMaine host communities include Kittery, Old Orchard Beach, Bridgton, Bethel, Sweden, and Kennebunk.

"This year's BikeMaine route has something for everyone," said Kim True, BikeMaine ride director. "We are showcasing Maine's sandy beaches and beautiful mountains. It's the scenery, the towns involved in the route, and the treasures you find along the way that make this ride such an incredible and unique experience to cyclists."

Bethel will be the ride’s “layover” town, meaning cyclists and volunteers will spend two nights with a day off from riding in between, giving them the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and adding an extra economic boost. Participants may camp at Gould Academy or stay in area lodging establishments. Meals and activities will be centered in Bethel’s village.
