Buckfield:: gets back on track against Traip Academy

Buckfield rallies past Rangeley in a big way

..."We needed her to throw strikes, and she did," Buckfield coach Sandy Albert said. "We told her to just go in and throw strikes, and just let your defense work. She did pretty well doing that."

Maggie Bragg started the game pitching for the Bucks (10-1) — in place of injured ace Julia Dow — but the Lakers (5-4) jumped on her early by staying patient, drawing five walks in eight at-bats to force Albert to make a switch.

Shields, a senior with pitching experience but none this season, toed the rubber with a 4-0 deficit and the bases loaded, but got out of the jam with a strikeout and a 9-3 put-out.

Buckfield gets back on track against Traip Academy

... "I thought that we would (rebound), because this team does that really well," Bucks coach Sandy Albert said. "Last time we lost to Richmond we rebounded and came right back and won every game (until Tuesday's loss). So this team does really well, being able to do that. They forget about the past, which you have to do in softball."

That last sentiment from Albert, about forgetting the past, also rang true for Thursday's game with Traip.

Holding a 1-0 lead, the Bucks (12-2) committed a harmless error in the top of the third inning, then a costly one followed in the fourth with the score 2-0.
