Bangor, Brewer softball teams relying on new pitchers

...Gilmore is playing at the University of Maine and Bragg is playing at Husson University in Bangor.

Bragg and fellow senior Kathryn Sund saw the majority of the work in the circle with junior Page Cadorette also seeing some limited duty. Cadorette will be one of three pitchers for head coach Don Stanhope along with junior lefty Lexi Cunningham and freshman Morgan Carter Moulton.

“They all bring something different to the table. Morgan is the hardest thrower,” said Stanhope. “They all locate the ball well. They have changeups and spin pitches.”

Defensive Camden Hills eager to battle toe-to-toe with Class A foes

...Outlook: After a winless season, the good news for the Windjammers is things can only get better. And losing only three players to graduation, the Windjammers have a handful of others who have varsity experience under their belts.

Motylewski said “strong defense will be our priority behind our pitchers.”

“Every game will be a physical and mental battle,” she said. “We don't expect anything to come easy. Every run we score is going to have to be worked for and earned, but that's exactly what these girls do: They work hard.”

Bucksport softball seeking another title run

... Coach Mike Carrier’s Golden Bucks have won four Class C North championships and three state titles over the last five years.

Madison beat the Bucks 3-1 in last year’s state final.

Madison also won the state title in 2014, beating Calais 1-0.

Bucksport beat Dirigo of Dixfield (2-1), Madison (7-0) and Telstar of Bethel (9-4) in the 2012, ’13 and ’15 state championship games.

Carrier, who is in his 27th season at the helm, said last year’s loss to Madison is still fresh in their minds.
