LL 11-12 yo Softball: Biddeford rolls past Standish, into state final

WINDHAM — The Biddeford Little League softball team powered past Standish 13-0 in four innings to advance to the 11-12 year old state final Saturday in Windham.

The Tigers dominated the four innings, and Biddeford coach Andy Donovan was surprised to see the lopsided score.

“It was definitely unexpected ... when we play a team like Standish, we know how good they are,” said Donovan. “We told the girls that we just needed execute, focus on our team, do our jobs and what we do well, and battle it out.”

Little League Softball: Biddeford wins state championship
The District 4 champions complete an unbeaten run through the state tournament, beating Standish 14-5.

WINDHAM — Biddeford came back from an early four-run deficit Saturday and rolled to a 14-5 win against Standish to capture the Little League Softball state championship for 11- and 12-year-old girls.

The District 4 champions went 3-0 in the five-team, double-elimination tournament to advance to the 10-team Eastern regional tournament that begins Saturday in Bristol, Connecticut.

After outscoring its first two opponents by a combined 33-2 in games that ended early because of the 10-run mercy rule, Biddeford had to come from behind for the first time in tournament play this summer. In its district tournament, Biddeford went 4-0 and outscored opponents 46-2.
