Senior all-star softball games about fun and bonding
Pranks, playing new positions define spirit of the game.

AUGUSTA — Carrabec’s quartet of all-stars wasted little time reminding a rival coach that Thursday’s Maine Softball Coaches Association Senior All-Star games are not your typical softball contests.

They hid Madison coach Chris LeBlanc’s shoes.

Carrabec coach Craig Knight and LeBlanc made sure to keep the hijinks going — following the lead of Bailey Atwood, Paige Chadbourne, Liberty Chestnut and McKayla Willette — during the C/D South All-Stars Game at Cony Family Field.

Maine sweeps undermanned N.H. crew at Senior Softball Games

ROCHESTER — Tyler Chastney proved Tuesday why she is a good teammates, regardless of which state she is in. The recent Noble High School grad was slated to play with Maine in the annual Maine/New Hampshire Senior Softball Games at Spaulding High School. But as game time approached, the N.H. team was one player short of filling its lineup of nine.

Chastney was told by Maine assistant coach Dave Billings she was going to play for N.H.

So play she did — and she got the best of both worlds.

Maine ended up sweeping New Hampshire, 7-4 and 6-1, which made Chastney smile. She also had a single and threw a runner out at third base from center field.
