Winslow girls lock down Medomak Valley
Guimond, Quirion lead Black Raiders to regional quarterfinals.

...“We played our game and went forward,” Winslow back Sarah Stevens said. “We have a strong midfield and strong ‘D,’ and we know what our game is.”

The final scoreline did little to indicate just how wide the gap was between the two sides on Saturday.

Medomak (3-11-1) generated only one shot across 80 minutes — on a 40-yard chance that bounded in easily for Black Raider goalkeeper Broghan Gagnon to handle in the 35th minute. The Panthers, who scored only 11 goals all season, had all they could do simply to curb the Winslow pressure in their own third of the pitch. ... ak-valley/

Medomak Valley gives Winslow best shot in prelim playoff loss

...Against Medomak Valley, the Black Raiders netted a goal in each half — one from Sarah Guimond and another from Ashley Quirion — off a pair of assists by Sara Doughty.

“Overall, I’m extremely proud with how the girls played,” said Medomak Valley coach Bri Morrill. “It was a collective effort on the field today. Unfortunately, two fluke goals were let in. Great pressure up top today by Abby Nelson and Stephanie Morse, great defense by Jane Vannoy and ball striking by Hallie Kunesh.”

Kayla Donlin made six saves in goal for the Panthers and Broghan Gagnon one save in net for the Black Raiders. Winslow held a 7-1 advantage in shots and 6-2 edge in corner kicks. ... ss/1697882
