Penalty kick save in overtime helps Bangor girls tie Camden Hills

BANGOR, Maine — Junior Alexis LeBreton is a first-year starter for the Bangor High School girls soccer team. She played a huge role in the Rams’ come-from-behind 2-2 overtime tie with defending state Class A champ Camden Hills in a makeup game Thursday night.

LeBreton saved Kaylyn Krul’s penalty kick with 3:55 remaining in the second overtime and she came up with a nice stop on Lexi Heidorn en route to a 14-save evening.

Both teams are now 1-0-1.

Strong start propels Bangor girls soccer team by Edward Little

...Bangor goaltender Alexis LeBreton made two key saves midway through the first half while her team was clinging to a one-goal lead — one on a breakaway and another was on a Piper Norcross free kick from the top of the box — and gave her team the chance to respond.

LeBreton made six saves in the contest as Bangor improved to 5-2-1.

“She’s been one of the strengths all year and she’s been playing really, really well,” Bangor coach Joe Johnson said. “Making plays she should and some plays that are really tough. We are really impressed with the way she’s been playing right now.”
